Ultimatw Warrior was deemed number 1 contender. The top heel at the time Ric Flair and his manager Mr. Perfect served as irritants to build and drive the feud. Flair & Perfect lead each man to believe one had joined them. As it turned out, neither Warrior or Savage had sold out to Flair. Warrior won the match, not the title, by count out, when Flair & co. interfered.
