With the current brand extension, that leaves the traditional Royal Rumble causing a lot of confusion. In the past, the winner of the 30 Man Battle Royal always faced the WWE Heavyweight Champion at WWE Wrestlemania, but with two champions heavyweight champions there must be changes made.
Currently WWE plans to have 2 Royal Rumble matches, one featuring 15 men from the "RAW Brand", the other featuring 15 men from the "Smackdown! Brand". With the winner of each fighting their brand's champion.
As a reminder, OVW superstars will have the opportunity to work WWE Royal Rumble for a chance to win a shot at the WWE world title at WrestleMania.

In ads for the Royal Rumble in Boston, they are promoting that wrestlers in the Rumble match will be competing for a title shot at WrestleMania. I still have not heard any firm word as to what they plan will be for that bout since there are two titles now. In the past, the winner got a shot at the WWE Title at Mania, but that was before there was a World Title. I guess they could just keep things as they were in the past and have the winner get a shot at the WWE Title. It would be interesting to see Steve Austin come back and win the Rumble, thus moving to Smackdown since he will be chasing that title at Mania. It would make sense to move Austin from Raw to Smackdown since there will most probably be issues if Austin ends up back on the same show as HHH, who he openly dislikes, not to mention that he left the company due to his displeasure with the creative end of Raw. Of course, if Austin were to win the Rumble and go right for the title, some would make the argument that after walking out on the company and going home, he got rewarded with a title shot. But in the current market, WWE will most probably think about what could draw them money over what will tick off the locker room.

A fifteen man battle royal sounds like something that should be on TV not the Royal Rumble.

same here, i hope that my orginal prediction is right
30 stars (the way it should be) 15 from RAW, 15 from Smackdown! and then the winner gets a shot at wrestlemania at the title from their show
ie if brock lesnar wins as i predict, he has a shot at Angles WWE title at Wrestlemania
if some off RAW wins, like err...RVD (hope he don't though, i want Angle vs Brock) he will have a shot for H's World title
i hope it works like that
two 15 star rumbles would spoil it

Yeah, the WWE should try to keep the Royal Rumble as unchanged as possible. People love the Royal Rumble because of a 30-Man rumble, not two 15-Man rumbles.

The January edition of the UK Sky TV Guide features an article promoting the Royal Rumble. Quotes made by Stephanie McMahon were included to outline what is currently happening in the WWE. She briefly explained the concept of the roster split, and went on to detail the situation between her and Eric Bischoff.
The purpose of this article is to promote the Royal Rumble, which UK viewers will have to pay for. It also gives away what could be seen as a huge Royal Rumble spoiler. Towards the end of the article it says the following:
"This month the superstars of SmackDown! and RAW take each other on for the first time in WWE Royal Rumble USA on Sky Box Office."
Nothing is confirmed as of yet, so take it for what it's worth.

The 15 - 15 split in the Royal Rumble isn't a bad idea, because I'd like to see Raw and Smackdown go at it. Plus, the 30 Man Royal Rumble is classic. If they change the rules, it would destroy the value of the event.
