Many have wondered who Triple H will take on at WrestleMania. There has been speculation amongst sources of having Triple H take on Scott Steiner once again, however, it is doubted due to them wrestling each other at Royal Rumble and now again this month at No Way Out.
There has been talk of pairing Triple H off with Bill Goldberg. The update on Goldberg is that he has not signed with WWE, but as you probably know by now has met with Vince McMahon face to face. It has been said that the problem with signing Goldberg is that he only wants to work a light schedule, leaving many WWE executives feeling that it is not worth signing him. This pretty much leaves the WWE/Goldberg deal at a halt. Nothing has changed and whether anything will change is yet to be seen.
However, this would still leave Triple H out of an opponent. Many have said that it would make since pairing Triple H against Booker T, due to the fact that he will probably be getting a singles push since his recent break up with Goldust. I think that we will see a better chance of Booker T vs. Triple H at WrestleMania than Bill Goldberg mixed into the action.

Yeah, right now I'd see anyone as champion over HHH but I would really like to see Booker T as champ.

I think it will be Stone Cold. I'm sure HE will want to be right in the thick of things or else he probably wouldn't come back would he?

There is talk within WWE right now that they want to have a surprise opponent for Triple H at this years Wrestlemania. With Triple H's backstage power, many are coming on record as saying they would not be shocked to see it actually happen. With Sting recently coming out and telling people that he has talked with WWE and Vince McMahon in the past year, you cant rule out his name. This is in no way confirmed yet, but they definitely want to have some sort of surprise.

There is alot of talk amongst WWE officials over who Triple H will face at Wrestlemania X9. There are already a number of big matches either already announced, like Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle, or matches that are being planned such as Steve Austin vs. The Rock, Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon and Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels. Presuming that HHH beats Scott Steiner at No Way Out, he will most likely go into Wrestlemania as the Heavyweight Champion. A number of names have been brought up over who HHH could defend that title against at Wrestlemania. Names like Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner have all been mentioned. However, Triple H feels that all of these opponenets are lacking a "big card" appeal type of name that he wants to face at Wrestlemania.
- If the WWE is unable to find a suitable opponent for Triple H, there is a possibility of them looking outside the company. Bill Goldberg's name has been brought up several times, however as most people know by now, there have been on going talks for weeks between the two sides. Both the WWE and Goldberg can't come to an agreement on how often Goldberg would work. It is believed that Goldberg would only want to work a few shows, while WWE wants him to come in for a more regular schedule since they can't promote him or get him over for WMX9 if he just works a few shows.
- Another name being rumored as a prospective opponent is Sting. In a interview earlier this week Sting had mentioned that he has been talking to the WWE and Vince McMahon about a possibly return to mainstream wrestling in North America. Sting said that he almost had a deal to work Wrestlemania X8 last year, but the deal wasn't done in time. Much like Goldberg, by bringing in a former top WCW talent, there is no guarantee that it will draw big money. On the plus side, long time fans would find a Sting-HHH match, a very desirable attraction. It would be wise of WWE to see if there is interest on Sting's part.

I dont really know if it will happen but id like to see HHH face Kevin Nash so that he could see what a real wrestler does
In the absence of that happening i think a match against Booker T would be good because he is a very decent entertainer
