Mean Gene welcomes us and previews tonight's show, he mentions the following stories: A look at Arn Anderson's career, The Matt/Bob Holly TE3 Incident, Steve Austin/Eric Bischoff's WCW Fallout, and Freddie Blassie's 85th Birthday.
Freddie Blassie Turns 85
He was born February 8, 1918. Blassie grew up in St. Louis. For his first match he got paid one dollar and he was seventeen years old. His mother told him he was foolish and to get a real job. Blassie loved to fight. He was one of the most hated men in the history of wrestling. He has been cut and stabbed twenty-one different times. The first time was when he was taunting a bunch of fans in Rome, GA. An old man stabbed him with his pocketknife in Blassie's ankle. Blassie walked backstage with the knife still in his ankle. The police fined the guy one hundred and twenty bucks and the guy said that if he knew that was all it cost, he would have stabbed him again. In Boston, two teenagers, yelled, "Hey Blassie," when he looked up they threw a hardboiled egg at him, which caused him to lose sight out of his right eye. He enjoyed bringing the worst out of the people, and some wrestlers were afraid to ride with him because of how hated he was with the fans. Clips and footage of Blassie in Hollywood are shown. Clips of him with a very young Regis Philbin and Muhammad Ali are shown. He tells a story about how Burt Reynolds said to him, "Illustrious one, where have you been?" he then kissed Blassie's fist. Blassie said he hasn't washed that hand since? Footage of him on the Dick Van Dyke Show airs. He doesn't consider himself a legend or anything, and just wishes that he didn't have to get old, so that he could relive those days again.
Matt/Bob Holly TE 3 Controversy
Footage of Bob Holly destroying Matt from the TE3 is shown. Big says that they really wondered if Matt was really tough enough. Bob says, without mentioning any names, that someone should have prepared them for his visit and told them that he was rough. Big says he was comfortable with that. Bob says that if he kicked Matt as hard as he could, then Matt would have broken ribs and would have never gotten up from that mat. Bill DeMott says that Matt learned from Bob that it's not just about sports entertainment. Holly says he does the exact same thing with the boys in the locker room (yeah and look what happened when you tried it on Brock Lesnar) and that he was teaching Matt how it really is in the WWE. Holly says every time he gets a busted lip, he takes it quietly and goes to the back. He gets more angry the more he thinks about the fact that Matt was ready to quit and throw in the towel after the incident, showing Holly that he has no heart. Ivory says it was a sense of reality for Matt. Holly doesn't care if people like him or not, he reiterates that he doesn't care. Holly says that Al really thinks he took it too far. He says he really likes Al and that he thinks Al is too easy on them, too much of a "mother figure." Holly says if he were in Matt's shoes, nobody would have ever known about it because he would have went on and about his business like nothing happened. (Somehow I really doubt that.) Matt said that situation was really confusing but it engraved to him that he could do this. Holly says that it was a good thing he shook his hand. Holly says he is glad that Matt won (since now he won't have to wait for the WWE to make up a storyline for him, he hasn't been too lucky in that dept over the years, i.e. Sparky Plugg!) and if Matt is there when he comes back, they will have a match and he is not sure what will happen.

Eric Bischoff and Steve Austin's WCW Fallout
An Austin interview from March 18, 1997 is shown where he is asked to evaluate WCW and Eric Bischoff. (This was while WCW was kicking WWF's butt) Austin says he was down there for four to five years and while they were doing a show in Japan, he halfway tore his triceps off of his arm and wounded up wrestling for two weeks like that. He said he had to get it fixed, and WCW fired him over the phone. Austin gives the "digging the ditch" speech that was in WrestleMania 14 video package. Basically saying he would have liked to have been fired to his face. Arn Anderson said that WCW booking department and marketing staff didn't see anything in Steve Austin while he was there.
It gets more interesting now, as Eric Bischoff tells his side of the story. Bischoff said that right after he finalized the negotiations to bring Hulk Hogan into WCW in 1994, Steve Austin came to him and told him that he had an idea. He wanted himself and Hulk Hogan to become a tag team. Bischoff said the reason was because they were both half bald and blonde. Bischoff said at that time, he had spent a lot of time deciding a lot of things that Hogan would do in the company creatively once he arrived. He knew they were going to do Hogan and Flair. When Austin came to him with the idea, he thought idea was a little weak and told Steve that he didn't see it happening.
