STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2003--World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. announced today that its WWE(TM) Far East Tour generated more than $4 million in ticket and merchandise sales for the company.
More than 30,000 people attended the three-day sold-out tour, which kicked off at the Jamsil Basketball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea on January 23 and then proceeded to the National Yoyogi Stadium (No. 1 Gymnasium) in Tokyo on January 24 and 25. Yukes's Co. Ltd., the developer of content for WWE video games published by THQ, was the presenting sponsor of the two-day tour in Tokyo.
"Our live event performance is a great barometer for the success of our other businesses in the marketplace," said Roger Marment, WWE's Executive Vice President of International Business Development. "The enthusiastic fan support at our live events translates into sales of our home videos, DVDs and other WWE branded merchandise."
WWE has planned 27 live events in 2003 across five continents in countries including Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
